Dr. Yladrea Drummond is a native of Houston, Texas. She is a lawyer, author, black culture advocate, accomplished compliance consultant, political strategist, diversity advisor and leadership trainer. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Texas State University and a Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center. Dr. Yladrea Drummond currently serves as the Special Assistant to the President of the Legal Services Corporation in Washington, D.C., where she assists other great attorneys in expanding equal access to justice.

Dr. Drummond is the Founder of The Ink Up, through which she desires to create a community of affordable literary services and increase exposure to the black literary community, by staying dedicated to strengthening the power of black literature and those behind the pen. Additionally, she is the Founder & CEO of Capital Strategies, LLC, which is the first black-owned NGO compliance and financial services firm in the United States and ACTIVate a nonprofit with a mission to help the formerly incarcerated make a true transition back into society and thrive. Lastly, Dr. Drummond, alongside other black leaders, became a Cofounder & Senior Legal Advisor of Black Culture Weekly a platform created to revolutionize and centralize media through action for black audiences to have access to the things they believe in and enjoy.

Dr. Drummond believes that limits are meant to hold back a person’s inner genius and doesn’t see a reason to box herself in. To that end, she released her first self published book, Through These Eyes: Surrendering the Ties of My Soul in September 2020. The book dives deep into how her past trauma played a role in how she moved through life and how breaking her “soul ties” allowed her to become the woman she is today. Dr. Drummond is currently working on her first fiction book and is excited to explore the possibilities of her mind’s creativity.

Above all of her accomplishments, Dr. Yladrea Drummond takes pride in her biggest role as a wife and mother of her two sons. She enjoys adventure, cooking new dishes as she pretends to be a contestant on Top Chef, traveling across the world, binge watching TV series and organizing her Happy Planner.

When it’s all said and done, Dr. Yladrea Drummond pledges her life’s mission, to uplift others, expand access to the underserved, be a vessel for the unheard, and tackle injustice across the nation.
